Simple Pleasures

It has been a while since I have updated this blog, but to tell you the truth, not much has been happening.  Justin is making great progress on the electrical work in the house, but it isn't much to look at.  He did install the can lights in the dining room and we took a walk over to the house one evening so we could try them out in the dark.  That was really cool!  I don't know when I have ever been quite so excited about simple lights, but it is a whole new experience to be in our house with lights!!!  Justin also worked on the electricity upstairs, and we were excited to find that the previous owners had put almost all new wires in upstairs.  Hallelujah!  Justin was nervous that he was going to find all old wires up there and was going to have to find a way to fish new wires in without disturbing the walls.  However, he only had to do this for two of the outlets, which turned out to be okay because he had access through the attic and the laundry room.  That means, we also have lights upstairs.  We had fun going upstairs and turning on the lights and flipping the switches for the hall lights both upstairs and downstairs.  Simple pleasures!
At Kevin and Erica's house, I have been having the experience of trying to keep everything spotless just in case someone wants to take a look.  Needless to say, I have never been a neat person, so this task is quite daunting to me.  However, it has gotten a little bit easier.  I have turned to the famous FlyLady to help me get motivated, and have been keeping my sink shiny and setting my timer for small intervals to get tasks done.  I have also been decluttering like crazy and have been surprised at just how much stuff we have accumulated in two years of marriage.  Hmmm....  We  don't even have kids yet!  It's a little bit scary how things just get put in closets and are out of sight and out of mind.
Other than the two houses, I have been keeping busy with school and work.  I finished my second summer class on Tuesday and now have three weeks off before school gets underway again.  I am debating if I want to actually take time off, or if I should get a head start of my nursing stuff.  If history repeats itself, I will be taking a break and starting off school already behind.  Oh well.  I don't want to get too burnt out!  We have been having a few days of summer here and there, doing things such as swimming, going on walks, getting ice cream at DQ, and going to Arts in the Park.  I hope to get my fill of such activities before getting neck deep in homework again.  I am very thankful for the opportunity to go to school, and even more amazed at how the Lord has provided for us so far.  I really can't complain about school because I am getting my degree for free.  I just need to get more organized so I can make the most of it all.
This weekend we head out to Bluffton for the first time this summer!  We plan to make applesauce, maybe go to a local fair, and celebrate our sweet niece's 2nd birthday.  Maybe I'll actually take some pictures. :)
