The house gets stripped

Demolition has been going smoothly.  It took us...Justin...only about a week to do most of the dirty work.  Klint Gerber and Dad Witzig helped us on a few Saturdays, which has been so nice!  Grandpa Witzig likes to come over and view the progress. He has been known to bring over garden shears to help us with our pathetic landscaping!  He changed his walking route to include our new house and likes to peak in on us.  I'm told we had several peeping toms.  Friends, family, and neighbors are quite curious and like to come over and see what is going on.  So... I thought I would add some new pictures of what it looks like after some major demolition.  These pictures are over a span of several weeks.  Brace yourself....
My job was to take out all of the light switches and outlets.   I also pull lots of nails and do cleaning up...I'm not much good at this demolition or construction stuff. :)
The boys enjoyed making holes in the walls and planting random objects in them as well.
The kitchen without cabinets.
Mom Witzig has been wonderful about bringing us good food to eat!  Here we are eating on the porch.  I think it's the food that gets Klint to come over.  Thanks, Mom!!
This is the kitchen again only without drywall or lath and plaster.  What a mess!  Notice the dust!
Klint and Justin having fun again.  We can't have all work and no play!
This is Dad helping us to clean up.  Our method was to open up a window and dump the trash into a wheelbarrow below.
The view from outside (only this one is Justin in the bedroom).
Klint is removing the closets in what used to be the master bedroom.
Justin is removing the walls in the back bedroom.  Lots of lath and plaster here.
Klint got the job of removing the drop ceiling.

This is the old master bedroom without the closets.  This part of the house had some water damage.
Here is the kitchen looking in from the dining room.  Justin has since widened this doorway quite a bit.
This is the dining room.
Here is the view from the living room.  You probably can't really tell from this picture, but Justin built a new wall in the new master bedroom so we could take out the rotting, water damaged wall.
This is me in my pulling nails gear.  It is very dusty and we have been a little concerned about lead paint.  We have been wearing these masks to minimize what we breathe in.  No sickness so far...
There is still a ton more to show you, but it will have to wait.  Until next time...
